Understanding The Lingo

One of the hard parts of starting a new role is keeping up with the internal lingo. That’s why we’ve compiled a list of definitions for some of the terms and acronyms you may hear.

AMS: Account Management Statistics is a weekly financial spreadsheet that goes out to our teams every Friday that shows how they are progressing as a branch.

BMG: Brand and Marketing Guide, is basically our company’s brand bible. It helps us to ensure our marketing, sales and communication activities are on brand every time.

BUSS: Business Unit Support Services which means the people from Head Office who offer corporate services to the branches.

CI: Continuous Improvement is a suggestion that you think will benefit Protech by implementing your ideas. These can be uploaded via our TMS by “hitting the orange button”.

D&A: Drug and Alcohol, a zero tolerance policy we take seriously.

eNPS: This is our employee survey that we send out bi annually to all staff to collect their feedback and thoughts on the business whether it can be something we need to improve on or something we do really well.

EXEC: Our Executive Management Team is made up of our General Managers.

LFS: Leading, Flexible, Smart is our brand descriptor, which is used across both internal and external communications to reinforce three key characteristics of our business and our brand.

LTI: Lost Time Injury – an occurrence that resulted in a fatality, permanent disability or time lost from work of one day/shift or more.

LTIFR: Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate – the number of lost-time injuries within a given accounting period relative to the total number of hours worked in the same accounting period.

NCR: Non-Conformance Report raised when things don’t go to plan, so we can figure out why and fix it.

NPS (Net Promoter System): Net Promoter System is an online tool we use to gauge the loyalty of our customer relationships.

OFI: Opportunity for Improvement where we can do better to beat the rest.

PAT: Physical Ability Test is our exclusive element in our overall physical risk management approach. It helps to determine that the personnel you engage are fit for job demands.

QA: Quality Assurance – part of quality management focussed on providing confidence that quality requirements will be fulfilled.

QC: Quality Control – part of quality management focussed on fulfilling quality requirements.

QPET: Quality People. Every Time. is our brand promise. It is integral to everything we do, every day.

RDB: RDB Pronet is the internal recruitment software system that is the central hub for recording everything we do with applicants, candidates, clients, contacts, jobs and placements.

SAO: Safe Act Observation, a site based review of a specific task to ensure the worker is not at risk.

SMaC: SMaC stands for Specific, Methodical and Consistent. The more uncertain, fast-changing, and unforgiving your environment, the more SMaC you need to be.

SOP: We love Standard Operating Procedures. We have them on everything that helps you to do your job even better.

SSQ: Safety System Questionnaire, a complete review of the safety management systems of a client to ensure they are able to provide a safe workplace for our on-hire employees.

TMS: Our Total Management System is our online portal where we store all our documents, policies and procedures for easy access. It’s a common theme around the office that if you ask where something is you’ll be asked “Have you looked on TMS!”

USP: Unique Selling Point is our ability to consistently deliver quality people, every time. We achieve this quality through methodology.
