A CAREER IN ASPHALT WITH PROTECH
Before finding his place with Protech, Pranjal Dalvadi was concerned that he wouldn’t be able to gain meaningful employment in the construction industry despite his qualifications.
With a Bachelor of Engineering under his belt, Pranjal immigrated from India to Australia in 2015, ready to commence further study with a Masters in Project Management and Civil Engineering.
Once his studies were complete, Pranjal’s status as a non-Australian resident made it difficult for him to enter the workforce in the asphalt industry, a goal he was working towards since first commencing his studies back in India. Pranjal had just two years remaining on his visa and needed to find an employer who would support him as he worked to achieve permanent residency status.
Getting Started With Protech
Through industry contacts he met during his studies, Pranjal was encouraged to reach out to Protech where he was offered a role on site with Fulton Hogan on the Gold Coast. Using the Co-Create methodology, Protech and Fulton Hogan worked together to find Pranjal a position best suited to his skills and qualifications.
In just six months time, Pranjal had expanded his skill set immensely by working alongside experienced industry professionals and was moved to a new role within the business as a Lab Technician. Another six months later and Pranjal transitioned into a Project Engineer role, in which he’s still employed today.
As a Fulton Hogan Project Engineer, Pranjal has a high degree of responsibility and autonomy. He manages projects until completion, liaises with clients, and provides support based on his comprehensive understanding of project specifications. Overall, Pranjal’s role at Fulton Hogan has allowed him to be a part of a large, professional workforce, learning invaluable skills and practical expertise.
Protech’s Ongoing Support
Pranjal’s success in his role was facilitated by the support of the local Protech recruitment team. With a collaborative working relationship between Protech and Fulton Hogan, Pranjal was able to find fulfilling employment, knowing that Protech was responsive and quick to meet his needs as he integrated into the culture of the workforce and asphalt industry as a whole.
This support took form in regular on site and over the phone check-ins by his local Account Manager and Business Manager, who also assisted in supplying the relevant documentation and administrative support as Pranjal worked towards his permanent resident visa.
Pranjal now looks forward to improving processes and efficiency within the asphalt industry as well as developing professionally by continuing to work with foremost experts in his field.
A Positive Influence in People’s Lives
Pranjal’s experience with Protech was so positive that he recommended his wife Dolly come on board. Again, Protech employed a co-create approach and worked with Fulton Hogan to find her a suitable role; she is now employed as a Lab Technician.
Dolly studied Electrical Engineering in India prior to arriving in Australia and, similarly to Pranjal, came to Australia to find meaningful employment. She completed a Certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety and has aspirations to work in a WHS role.
Pranjal and Dolly both look forward to stimulating and fruitful careers in the asphalt industry, made possible by the continued dedication Protech has to be a positive influence in people’s lives.
