Protech is proud to partner with a team that has a deep connection to its local community, making positive and lasting contributions to the Newcastle Rugby scene and other local businesses.
About the Newcastle Knights
Based in Newcastle, New South Wales, the Knights have been dominating the field since 1988, winning two premierships over its illustrious history in 1997 and 2001. They compete in Australasia’s premier rugby league competition, the National Rugby League (NRL) premiership.
The Knights have produced rugby legends such as Andrew Johns, Danny Buderus, Paul Harragon, and Protech’s very own Kurt Gidley. Their legendary status was etched the moment they stepped on the field almost 35 years ago, even in the face of defeat.
As of today, they are among Australia’s premier rugby teams. They represent grit, determination, and teamwork – values echoed by Protech. After the previous Newcastle rugby team departed from the competition as a result of the formation of the new league, the Knights were created, 79 years after the original rugby team disbanded.
Their red and blue colours symbolise an indefatigable league on the field, with stellar credentials, especially their two premierships in the not-too-distant past.
The Knights call McDonald Jones Stadium their home, which has a capacity of more than 30,000. Previously known as the International Sports Centre, McDonald Jones Stadium occupies a central spot at the Hunter Venues sports precinct.
The Protech Sportsman Lounge at McDonald Jones Stadium is being used throughout the season by the Protech team and clients, who are all looking forward to some action-packed games.
