Protech is seeking an experienced Heavy Vehicle Workshop Manager to lead and grow our maintenance operations across two sites.
This is a senior leadership role suited to a qualified Diesel Mechanic who has transitioned into management and can operate at both a technical and people-leadership level.
You will be fully accountable for the performance, safety, compliance, and development of multiple heavy vehicle maintenance teams while building strong internal and external stakeholder relationships.
ABOUT THE ROLE
– Competitive salary + super + vehicle + fuel card
– 8am – 4pm, Monday to Friday
– Permanent position with 6-month probation
– Multi-site leadership role with autonomy and influence
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
– Lead, manage and develop heavy vehicle maintenance teams across two workshop sites
– Provide clear leadership, coaching and performance management to supervisors and trades staff
– Drive a strong safety-first culture and ensure all maintenance activities meet legislative, compliance and operational standards
– Oversee workshop productivity, workforce planning, and resource allocation
– Implement continuous improvement initiatives across safety, quality, cost control and efficiency
– Build and maintain strong internal relationships with operations, logistics and leadership teams, as well as key external suppliers and stakeholders
– Act as the escalation point for complex technical, operational, and people matters
TICKETS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
– Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology (essential)
– Trade-qualified Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanic with extensive hands-on experience
– Proven experience in a Workshop Manager, Maintenance Manager or equivalent leadership role
– Demonstrated success leading and developing multi-disciplinary mechanical teams
– Experience managing performance, compliance and workshop KPIs
– Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills
– Ability to operate strategically while remaining connected to workshop operations
