Senior Estimator – Construction – Government

Protech have the opportunity for a Senior Estimator to join the construction and maintenance business unit of the Queensland Government at Nerang on the Gold Coast. The position is initially listed as six months however a longer term is then evaluated. A great opportunity to get a foot in the door in a government position. 

Rate: $68.90
Commencement Date: 27/7/2026

Position overview:

• Leading and assisting a team of Estimators and support staff to achieve successful project delivery outcomes.
• Managing the delivery of estimating programs and projects particularly those deemed medium to high risk, significant or complex in nature.
• Producing high quality estimates and quotation documentation for building projects, ensuring compliance with the State Purchasing Policy, Minor Works, local instructions and tendering and contract methods, and client requirements.
• Undertaking research and development in project planning, budgeting, estimating, programming, delivery processes and procurement practices.
• Reporting on relevant estimating projects and/or programs providing information on volume, requests, clients, locations, acceptance rates, costs, schedule of rates, margins and productivity.
• Maintaining a healthy and safe work environment, ensuring compliance with current human resource practices and principles, including employment equity, anti-discrimination and workplace health and safety.
• Enhancing client relationships through effective communication, sound negotiation and the provision of timely, professional, competitive estimates.
• Proactively managing the work performance and personal conduct of your staff. 

Mandatory position requirements:

• Demonstrate experience in compiling and project managing complex estimating projects in a building construction and maintenance environment.
• Possess thorough working knowledge of building construction and maintenance legislative and regulatory requirements, principles and practices and contract procedures.
• Drivers Licence.
• Pass D&A testing 

Additional requirements and/or highly desirable skills 

• Cost X, Ellipse, E tender, Q tender, Iris and Quote tracking experience
