Protech is currently seeking experienced Truck, Multi-Skilled, and Excavator Operators to join our team at Thiess – Olive Downs Complex
Olive Downs Complex is a greenfield project located 40 kilometres South-East of Moranbah. Thiess have been awarded a contract to deliver full-service mining operations, including mine planning overburden removal, drill and blast, load and haul, water management and rehabilitation as well as the construction of the mine infrastructure.
About the role:
Reporting to the Production Superintendent, you will be responsible for the safe operation of heavy mobile plant onsite at the Olive Downs Complex. You will work collaboratively with your crew and the wider site team towards delivering safe, high-quality results.
We have multiple vacancies for the following skillsets:
- Experienced Haul Truck Operators
- Experienced Multi Skilled Operators
- Experienced Excavator Operators

About you:
- Suitable candidates will have demonstrated experience operating in a mining environment. Experience in hard rock mining operation desirable.
- Equivalent to or specific experience operating Caterpillar 793 dump trucks is essential
- Minimum of 1 year of prior working experience operating Dozer, Grader, Loader or Excavators in a coal mining environment (Ideally Lieb R9800/R9600/R9400 excavators, CAT haul trucks 793/794, D11/D10 dozers, 18M/24M Graders) or equivalent.
- Provide a current training transcript with SSE verification
- Preferred experience with CAT MineStar technologies including Command for Haulage, Fleet and/or Terrain
- Proof of Australian working rights
- Current Drivers Licence
- Current Standard 11
- HA (Coal Board Medical)
