Protech is currently recruiting for an experienced Work Health & Safety (WHS) Officer to support a busy and diverse operational environment across the Mid North Coast.
This is a hands-on, field-based role suited to a proactive safety professional who enjoys working closely with operational teams to drive a strong safety culture and deliver practical WHS outcomes.
About the Role
As the WHS Officer, you will provide day-to-day safety support across a range of worksites, working closely with supervisors, employees, and contractors to:
- Conduct workplace inspections, audits, and safety assessments
- Identify hazards and implement effective risk controls
- Lead incident investigations and ensure corrective actions are completed
- Support injury management and return-to-work processes
- Deliver WHS training, inductions, and toolbox talks
- Assist with contractor safety compliance and site inspections
- Contribute to continuous improvement of WHS systems and processes
About You
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety (or equivalent)
- Proven experience in a practical WHS role supporting operational or field-based teams
- Strong knowledge of NSW WHS legislation and risk management principles
- Experience conducting investigations, audits, and workplace inspections
- Injury management and return-to-work coordination experience
- Confidence delivering training and engaging with stakeholders at all levels
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and WHS systems
- Current Class C Driver Licence and White Card
Desirable:
- Diploma in WHS
- Experience in local government, civil construction, or utilities
- ICAM investigation training
- Return-to-Work Coordinator certification
