The Effectiveness Of Safety Communication

When it comes to safety communication, we often have a problem of two extremes.

We can say too much, bombarding people with a multitude of safety messages, overwhelming them with information. On the other hand, we can say too little, fostering uncertainty, unease and the perceived priority that safety is a low priority.

Across multiple industries, countries, and general work settings, when things go wrong with safety it is usually due to a breakdown in safety communication.

Understanding the Effectiveness of Safety Communication

Protech has partnered with leading safety researcher Dr. Tristan Casey and Griffith University to develop a groundbreaking report on what effective safety communication looks like on Australia worksites. The survey was sent to over 7,400 blue collar workers across Australia to gain new insights about the effectiveness of methods and styles of communication.

The BeSafe Movement: Safety as Second Nature

At Protech, our goal is to not only communicate safety effectively, but to embed a deep, subconscious awareness of safety in every individual and ensuring a heightened sense of safety behaviour across all workplace environments, Australia-wide. To improve each person’s safety behaviour, we’ve developed the BeSafe Movement, a simple yet powerful way to activate the subconscious mind to safety. By taking your left hand to your right shoulder and actively thinking “BeSafe”, you begin to establish and strengthen a new neural pathway each time you perform the movement. With repetition this act evolves into an automatic BeSafe habit.

Join the BeSafe Movement. Reach out to your Protech representative for more information on the campaign and to schedule a BeSafe session on your site.
